Today a new poetry ezine, was launched - "The Subversive Human" located at https://sites.google.com/site/thesubversivehuman/ - if you are a poet, please check out our month poetry contests.

We will post the link on the old, "Subversive Human, an Online Journal" and our other blogs, indefinitely. The August winner will be announced 8/25/2010. We are currently taking submissions for the September contest.

The award is $25 USD for first place.

1. We will be posting the link to our website, this weekend! People will be able to upload their submissions on-site or email them.

2. The winner for the Aiugust contest will be announced here and also on the new site.

3. Eventually, all our blogs will redirect to the new website, which is hosted by Google.

September 2010 Poetry Contest

Submissions for August 2010 closes at 12am tonight.. The winner will be announced August 25th and the winning poem and the poet's bio, posted. Winner will also need to email affidavit that he/she has copyright to poem and is 18 years or older, within 48 hours of notification.

September 2010:

The theme for September is "Changing Seasons". Submissions will be accepted starting August 16, 2010; the deadline is September 15, 2010. Notification of the winners will be posted, on September 25, 2010.

In this contest we would like submissions about the changing seasons. The changing of seasons could be something in your life, a milestone, a goal met. Anything symbolic or metaphoric, of a change taking place. The beginning of one thing, and the ending of another. Tell us about the changes in your life.

October 2010:

In October, we will be doing things a little differently. A dear friend, donated money to the ezine and in his honor, we are sponsoring The First Annual Bertie Award.

The theme is poetic humor in all its possible expressions and permutations. Give us your lusty limericks, your ballsy ballads… make us laugh, make us smile. Too often, as agent provocateurs, we take ourselves so seriously. Not this MONTH. This month, mi amigos, we plan on grinning foolishly.

We will begin taking October submissions, on September 16th; the deadline is October 15, 2010. Notification of the winners will be posted, on October 25, 2010.

Please Review the Updated Submission Guidelines: We have increased the amount of poems allowed to be submitted. You can now submit up to five (5) poems.

1. Pay a fee of $1 USD per poem to: Paypal - if you don't have an account, you will need to set one up. Our Paypal account is subversivehuman@gmail.com. We do NOT accept mailed entries currently.

2. Submit poetry to subversivehuman@gmail.com WITH the Paypal receipt number and the word "Submission" in the subject line.

3. Include a bio (no more than 100 words), your name, address, phone# and email. An accompanying picture is allowed.

4. COPY and PASTE the poem(s) in the body of the email, in Times Roman font size 12 or 14. Submit no more than (5) poems. . PLEASE DO NOT SEND AS AN ATTACHMENT!

5. Previous and simultaneous submissions are allowed but please indicate if you own the copyright and where the poem was previously published. If accepted for publication elsewhere, notify us as soon as possible.

6. Must be 18 and older.

7. Poems must be submitted in English.

NOTES:

We will notify the winner by 25th, of each month. The prize AWARDED is $25 USD. The winning poem will be posted, the following month, on LiveJournal, Blogger, FaceBook, Yahoo, WordPress and MySpace with links back to Blogger. For the Multiply.com site, we will post ONLY the winner’s name and title of poem, with a link back to Blogger. Good luck!

The 2nd place winner is allowed to submit (1) poem at no cost to the following month’s contest.

We will be adding 2nd and 3rd place monetary awards, as well as increase the 1st place prize amount. When this will be implemented, it will be announced. You can help this happen, by spreading the word about The Subversive Human, an Online Journal.

The theme for August is "when walls fall". The deadline is August 15, 2010. The prize is $25.

Are you a wall breaker? Do you respect boundaries or does a wall kindle the urge to tear it down? Give us outrage. Intrigue us.. Provoke SOMETHING.
